Connecting female and female-presenting board gamers

BeaverCon is a vibrant and inclusive gaming convention, created by Donna Leader in September 2024, as a welcoming space for female and female-presenting board gamers to connect, socialize, and enjoy a full day of gaming.

A passionate board gamer, Donna’s empty nest inspired her to seek out local gaming opportunities beyond her usual circle of friends and family. While her search led her to the Burlington Board Game Gals, an hour’s drive away, it also sparked the idea to establish a similar group closer to home. In February 2023, Guelph Board Game Gals was launched, quickly becoming a thriving community where women from Guelph and surrounding areas could gather for regular board gaming nights.

Fuelled by the enthusiasm and camaraderie of the Guelph Board Game Gals, Donna envisioned an even bigger event to celebrate women in gaming. This vision culminated in BeaverCon—a unique convention dedicated to fostering connection, fun, and empowerment among female board gamers.
